Bourbon BBQ Glazed Ribs

Tis’ the season for good barbecue ribs, even better if their bourbon bbq glazed pork ribs! I save my ribs for summertime specifically because that’s when I enjoy eating them most. Ribs just scream summertime to me. Making ribs on the grill is amazing but it takes some expertise to get them just right. These oven-baked bourbon bbq glazed pork ribs are insanely delicious. They are tender and the flavor is explosive. I’m not one for ribs that are hard and chewy, some folks like their ribs with a little bite, that’s not what you’re getting with this recipe.

The slow cook method literally tenderizes and softens the ribs and they are fall off of the bone tender. The bourbon bbq glaze is the perfect combination of sweet and savory and complements the ribs perfectly. Be sure to not skip slow cooking the ribs, that’s the magic in this recipe. You also need all that delicious broth the ribs make from being covered in the oven and steaming. That’s the base to the bourbon bbq glaze.

This recipe takes about three hours but trust me, it’s well worth the time investment. You will be really happy with the results once it’s all said and done.

Bourbon BBQ Glazed Pork Ribs

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of pork ribs (about 2 lbs) ribs can be seperated in the package or connected
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • splash of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

For For Bourbon BBQ Glaze

  • Splash of bourbon
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sweet baby rays bbq sauce more if you like it very saucy
  • liquid from ribs

Instructions

For Ribs

  • Remove membrane from the back of the ribs, wash and pat dry.
  • Drizzle ribs with olive oil, season liberally and add worcestershire sauce, splash of apple cider vinegar, liquid smoke and brown sugar.
  • Mix throughly and place in baking dish.
  • Cover with foil tightly and bake at 325 degrees for 3 hours until meat pulls away from the bone easily with a fork.

For Bourbon BBQ Glaze

  • In a small saucepan, add liquid from ribs baking dish, bbq sauce, liquid smoke, brownn sugar and bourbon and bring to a simmer.
  • Allow sauce to simmer for 5 minutes. Sauce will have a looser consistency but that's ok.
  • Pour glaze on ribs and place back in the oven on 450 degrees until ribs have a nice golden char, about 10 minutes.
