My Vacation in Jamaica

Soaking in the sun on white sandy beaches, listening to reggae music and eating delicious jerk chicken are just few of the most common things to do while visiting Jamaica. Known for its illustrious charm and laid-back vibe, Jamaica will instantly make you fall in love over and over again. On this particular trip to my home country my time was spent catching up with family members I had not seen in years & making new memories with my mother, little brother and my beloved as we made our way around this incredible tiny island.

Our route:
Montegobay > Kingston > Portland > Negril

On our first full day in Montegobay, we woke up bright and early
and the chef at the hotel (Grandiosa) made the best Ackee & Saltfish
with boiled bannas and callaloo that I’ve had in a while! It was soooo
good ya’ll! After eating we were on our way to Cornwall beach which was
conveniently just about 5 minutes’ drive from the hotel. The beach had a
private feel to it and we were given umbrella’s and lounge chairs upon
arrival (Cornwall beach was recently bought and the cost of admission is
now $20 USD) I thought the cost for admission was quite high, but my
mom was able to negotiate the local rate (which was a couple dollars
off). The beach was beautiful, white sand, crystal bluish, green water.
Not too warm, not too cold. We had our music and drinks and had a
blast!

The next day, we took the Knutsford Express Luxury bus from Montegobay to Kingston. This bus is the truth! It has comfy seats AND free wifi! They played a movie during the ride and stopped once at the Jerk Center in Ochos Rios. I will always travel on Knutsford Express when traveling throughout Jamaica. I loved the service and the ride was smooth. Upon our arrival in Kingston we checked into the Knutfsford Court Hotel in New Kingston. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful! Great restaurant, pool & gym. After checking in and unwinding for a bit, we took the treck into the mountains to go to Serendipity Holistic Spa & Resort. It was breathtaking and serene. The lovely hammocks and soothing river were my favorite parts of the resort.

Our days in Kingston were spent, beaching, eating, catching up with family and eating some more and going back to the old neighborhood to visit family. It was amazing. It was humbling. It was everything I wanted out of the trip and more.

During our last full day in Kingston we took a day trip to Portland. No words here. Just pictures. Beautiful, beautiful pictures.

Negril was our next destination and boy did we save the best for last! Despite being disappointed with our lodging we had the best time! The beach, the food and people were dynamite. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Shout-out to Rockhouse for being an incredible restaurant and swimming destination. I will definitely stay at the hotel the next time I visit Negril.

Hope you guys enjoyed my recap and will consider visiting Jamaica. You won’t regret it!

Beautiful pics! I stayed in Negril a few years back and did not like my lodging either. I would definitely pick somewhere else to stay next time.
