So, I’m sure you all have noticed a reoccurring trend in the natural hair sphere recently. A 90’s inspired hair style that was rocked by the best of the best like the iconic Ms. Janet Jackson herself..the style we automatically think of when someone utters the words “Poetic Justice.”

Boho box braids (as I like to call them) have been making a serious comeback in the natural hair community since celebs like Soloange started to rock them in music videos and on the red carpet.

We’ve got to admit that these braids have a certain “cool kid” appeal to them that no other style is capturing right now. Not only is this style bold and daring but it’s a bit whimsical and endearing. I am literally obsessed with this look and I’m hoping to try it out come summer time (hopefully the trend hasn’t ended by the then lol).

Not only is this a dope, versatile style; it is also the perfect style for someone who is transitioning or someone looking for a cool protective style. The braids are chunky so they won’t put too much strain on your already fragile hair. Since the braids are big this style will only stay fresh for about 4 weeks. Therefore, it is the perfect style to just give your natural hair a break!

My recommendation is always get this done professionally or by someone who is completely aware of how to apply braids to natural hair. It is critical to protect your hairline and ensure that the braids aren’t too tight. Having the braids installed incorrectly could cause massive breakage to your hair! So, be mindful about who you allow to install them.
