Provenza LVP Flooring

In this post, I’ll be sharing with you all the details about my home renovation journey and why I selected Provenza LVP Flooring for my kitchen.

If you’re new around here, you might be wondering why I’m sharing a post about flooring since I’m a food blogger but my husband I bought and renovated our first home at the end of 2021 and it was a journey that took a big chunk of our time and attention. To say we became fully consumed by the renovation process would be a major understatement. It was literally our life.

Renovating our home seemed like a big undertaking but we were encouraged because of all the shows we watched on HGTV but let me be the first to tell you that HGTV does not show the full picture. Renovating is a hard task and is not for the faint at heart. Throughout the process I was constantly trying to figure out what to do with our hardwood floors. Our home came with beautiful original cherry wood hardwood floors throughout the entire first floor and though beautiful and original the color was not my favorite. My preference for hardwood floors is a lighter color that brightens a space and creates a more neutral pallet for furniture.

Covering up hardwood floors with LVP (luxury vinyl plank) was something I did not want to do so I played with the idea of sanding the floors and re-staining—but after some research that just did not sound like a process we were willing to go through based on the cost of labor.

Where we finally landed was just updating the kitchen area with new LVP flooring since the original hardwood floors did not get placed in that area. It would still be a substantial area to update since the kitchen and kitchenette area is about 400 sqft.

Floors Before

I searched high and low for the right brand that would provide me with the durability I needed as a food blogger and mom of an almost one year old on the go. I needed something beautiful but functional. That’s when I came across Provenza on Instagram and I was in LOVE. I’m happy that I went with Provenza because the quality of their product is top notch. When my contractor was laying the flooring he said it was some of the best quality LVP he’s ever installed. The color I selected was Royal Crest from their Concorde Oak collection.

I went with Provenza LVP flooring for two main reasons:

  1. Durability

Our home went through a major renovation and the biggest portion of the renovation was painting. Even though our painters did their best to protect the floors a paint sprayer gets paint everywhere. I noticed paint spots on the floors and started to freak out but after spraying the spots with some latex paint remover and running a razor over the dried paint it magically disappeared. We could not do this with the spots on our hardwood floors because the razor would scratch the floors. I’m happy with how tough we can be on the Provenza floors without worring about ruining them.

2. Waterproof

The kitchen is the most used room in our home and water can easily get everywhere. When water gets on my Provenza flooring, I don’t have to worry. It can even sit there and dry up and it’s no biggie. Having waterproof floors has been a life saver.

I wanted to share my journey because there were a lot of folks on my social platforms who were interested in learning more about my flooring journey and selection and sharing a detailed blog post seemed like the best place to document it for future reference. If you’re reading this post, then you most certainly are either in the renovation process or considering it and to you I say good luck! Don’t get too stressed and too low on the lows. The result will be worth it.

If you’re anything like me, then you are probably obsessed with figuring out the right flooring company to go with but honestly look no further than Provenza for all your LVP needs.

I recommend finding a showroom that sells the product or just ordering a few samples to see the color in person I recommend using their Showroom Locator to find a store near you, or just ordering a few samples to see the color in person, and in your space. Once you have a gut reaction to a color and you like it just go with it. I promise it will all come together.

Thanks for reading my journey.
