On Saturday, August 22nd, I had the pleasure of attending UNCF’s Hampton’s Summer Benefit.
It was an exciting evening in celebration of education at the home of Nancy Silberkleit in East Hampton, NY. Proceeds from the evening benefited UNCF’s educational initiatives and play a key role in making sure deserving students get the education they need to get to and through college.
I was invited to the event to participate as a model in the Spring 2016 presentation of designer & stylist Carlton Jones. Honoree’s of the event included Robert F. Smith, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners, Dr. Mary Schmidt Campbell, President of Spelman College, and Michaela Angela Davis, Editorial Brand Director Centric TV/Image Activist three individuals who continue to make extraordinary contributions in the field of education..
The event was amazing to say the least and definitely hit a sweet spot in heart because before attending the University of Florida, I was a Gates Millennium Scholarship recipient. The scholarship provided me with a full ride to any four year institution of my choice, I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to have received that scholarship and was ecstatic to participate in a night of raising funds for future well deserving minority college students.
