Hi Beauties!
Introducing Bryan:
NB: In your opinion, what role does hair play in assessing your initial attraction to a woman?
“Whatever style or color it is, the fact
that it’s well kept is probably the thing I pay attention to the most.”
NB: Why do you think so many women are going natural? Do you think the trend will fade?
“I hope it doesn’t fade! I love that black women are embracing natural hair and finding ways to suit their needs at work and at home. I hope this shows the next generation of black women that they are not confined to wearing their hair any specific way.”
NB: It has been researched that most black men prefer their women with natural hair; however, they prefer the woman’s hair to be straight. What is your opinion on this finding?
“I can only address how I feel about it. Personally, I am a fan of “big” hair so I would be an outlier in that study. However, I think that is most men being influenced by popular culture and ideas of beauty.”
NB: How do you feel about satin bonnets, scarf’s and other nighttime protective tools that natural women use to maintain their hair at night? Are these items problematic to you?
“While they don’t rate that highly on the cute scale, I understand that it’s necessary. I don’t have a problem with them.”
NB: Are you opposed to dating a woman who gets a relaxer or who wears a weave?
“I’m not, I would want to understand why she thinks she needs it or likes it.”
NB: Describe your personal style.
“My style is a blend of everything. I enjoy simplicity with small touches to really take an otherwise ordinary outfit into something that makes it my own.”
NB: What are some of your favorite hair care product?
“I don’t use very many hair products other than shampoo and conditioner. And that’s usually whatever is on sale.”
NB: Why do you think women with natural hair have a perception that most black men don’t accept or appreciate their natural hair (specifically if she chooses to wear a tiny afro, large afro or any other afro centric style)?
“I think it begins with a degree self consciousness. I think that the guys who don’t respond positively to her afro-centric hairstyle, probably aren’t the ones who’s attention she’s trying to get.”
NB: Is there anything else you wish women knew about how men feel about natural hair?
“I think this generation of men have heard their mother/sister/aunts/cousins complain about how hard it is to maintain their hair and sitting in a shop for hours. While we may not be able to go into detail about styles we want you to be happy with your hairstyle. Keep it simple, we have no idea how long it takes you to style it a certain way.”
NB: Anything else you would like to add?
“I LOVE NATURAL HAIR! BLACK WOMEN EMBRACE IT! I KNOW IT’S PROBABLY HARDER TO MAINTAIN BUT IT’S WORTH IT!“
