NB: Why did you decide to go natural? How long have you been natural?
It was my freshman year in college (March 2012 will make four whole years),
and I was broke lol but no seriously, I have very thick hair and the maintenance of
relaxed hair was very expensive, so I decided to go natural.
NB: What are your natural hair goals?
I’m completely natural now, which was the goal. I didn’t want to start from scratch like some and cut all of my hair off, so I let the relaxer grow out naturally and cut it from the ends. This definitely took longer but I love the end result. My hair grows much faster than it ever did with the relaxer.
NB: Who is your natural hair crush??
Honestly my two sisters. They both went natural at least 2 yrs before me so I learned from them.
NB: What is your current natural hair regimen?
Full shampoo with Pantene’s Medium to Thick, Dry to Moisturized Shampoo once a week. In between shampoos, I condition my hair daily with Silk Elements Moisturizing Conditioner or Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Conditioner. Once my hair is washed and towel dried, I use Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Leave-in Conditioner. It’s only 3 bucks and I go through a bottle about every 2 weeks.
NB: Describe your personal style.
Definitely a sporty sheek. My wardrobe consists of “chill clothes”. I love to get dressed up when I feel like it, but most people know me for the assorted array of sneakers lol
NB: Any tips for transitioners?
Just don’t get frustrated with how long the process may take, everybody’s hair is different and it’s definitely worth the end result. It’s too easy to go back to the creamy crack. Anything worth having is worth waiting for.
NB: What is your staple all natural hair product?
Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Leave-in Conditioner.. It’s cheap, not heavy on my hair like other products, and I swear by it these days. Also I’ve been rocking the banana clip a lot lately. Still shows off the curls, but keeps the mane tamed.
NB: One word that describes your natural hair
I would describe it as HUGE. Others I guess would describe it as BOLD. It def sticks out. Everywhere I go when I wear it out people are constantly asking me questions about my regimens and products I use.
