Lately, I've been seriously considering getting my hair colored! I've always wanted to try coloring my hair since I've been completely natural (nothing drastic, just maybe the crown of my hair for an ombre effect), but only had the courage to do henna.
The story behind me being afraid of color goes back to high school, when I had my first experience with permanent hair color. I had a relaxer back then and my hair was in no shape for such a harsh chemical. I got the permanent color and then two weeks later (as recommend) got a relaxer. My hair literally started to fall out in clumps..SCARY! Hence, why I am officially TERRIFIED to revisit this color place.
However, once your hair is completely natural and free of all harsh chemicals, permanent color can actually thrive IF TAKEN CARE OF THE RIGHT WAY.
Now, what does "taking care of your hair the right way" mean? Well, it's quite simple. From what I've researched over the years, when deciding to color your hair you must make a commitment to intensive moisturizing and deep conditioning. Reason being, permanent color can be very drying to your hair & you need to alleviate the dryness with as much moisture as possible to promote growth and maintain healthy hair.
With that being said, I need your opinion on dyeing natural hair! I've been wanting to this for years now, just a little apprehensive...ANY ADVICE??
